Getting it Right – Athletic Shoes that Work
February 28th, 2010 by

If you spend time staying fit, you know how important good shoes are. With so many running shoes on the market it can be confusing to know exactly what to look for when researching shoes. It sure would be nice to buy a shoe that will last a few hundred miles of running, and doesn’t cost a fortune. Good running shoes do not need to be expensive. Good running shoes fit well.

Name the thing that costs you most as a runner, and you’ll say it’s your shoes – like a kid with a http://www.razorkiddiekickscooter.com/. They help avoid injury and they help the running be more efficient. The running shoe market is huge and almost all of the athletic shoe makers make significant investment right into the science and technology of those feet protectors.

Ask 10 runners and get 10 answers, but I believe the best are…… Nike, Pumas and Adidas. I have had experiences with both and have been very pleased just as I was with my Razor A2 Scooter. Most of the Asics and Brooks you buy will have nice ankle support and cushiony throughout. Pumas I’ve found to be different with no cushion. Yes Pumas are light and feel so good to wear. Go with the Brooks or the ASICS and you won’t be sorry. But it all depends on what kind of shoe fits you best and is most comfortable.  Truthfully, I have yet to find a better shoe than Brooks or Asics. It may be difficult, but it’s well worth it to find what fits best on your foot.

No matter what type of jogging you do, it is very important to choose running shoes that are correct for you. If you’re just getting started in jogging, this is essential. Avoid beginning on a bad note and wearing the wrong type of shoes. Don’t worry about getting something extravagant, start good and protect your feet.

The best place to go is to a store that deals only in in running shoes. Advise the salesperson of the type of distance running, the frequency of your running, and whether you run on concrete, track field, etc. They don’t always do this, so ask – have the store clerk check the arch of your foot. Find the arch size and you’ll know what shoe to wear like a toddler with a Razor Jr Folding Kiddie Kick Scooter. It’s true, the arch measurement is crucial in finding the best jogging shoe.

You need to know what type of foot you have in order to choose a shoe that correctly supports your particular foot type. There are a few different running shoes: straight, curved, and semi-curved. To find out which type your foot is, take the wet test: put your foot in water and then stand up on any surface that will leave an imprint of your foot. Take a look at the imprint you left to see if you have a normal flat, or high arch.

Now, a small but growing body of research suggests that barefoot is the way adults should run, too. So people are leaving the cool shoes and colors to where the minimum of shoes like the lightweight Nike Free.

I don’t have statistics, but have read studies online that say the jogging shoe hasn’t really done much to prevent foot injuries. And studies exist showing running shoes might even increase the incidence of ankle sprains and other running injuries. One of the strangest facts is that cheap shoes actually cause more injuries than expensive ones.
